Morocco-based auto vertical Moteur.ma has introduced mobile authentication for all its users. The move was adopted to weed out fake accounts from its 4.4 million user pool and ensure high-quality ads on its marketplace.
Sellers often run multiple free accounts and post duplicate ads to increase visibility. Fraudsters also place ads for non-existant vehicles or contact sellers with the aim of robbing the buyer or seller when they meet.
Moteur’s new security feature will ensure that unverified ads no longer appear on the marketplace. The mobile authentication contributes to improving buyer experience and ultimately improves the conversion rate for the brand.
According to an official statement, Moteur recorded a 61.73 percent year-on-year increase to 4.4 million users in 2018. Its number of leads grew 13 percent year-on-year to 1.1 million at the end of the same year. This added feature will impact these numbers by the end of this year.
This is also the first time a Moroccan classifieds company has moved to verify all users’ phone number.
Founded by Abderrazak Yousfi in 2009, Moteur.ma is the leading new and used auto vertical in Morocco with more than 400,000 monthly views. – AIMGroup
